Construction
Ashwood was constructed in 2001/2 using the normal method followed in Ireland. The house walls consist of two layers of concrete blocks separated by a gap. The two layers are linked with stainless steel wall ties at regular intervals. In accordance with building regulations, there are solid foam insulation panels in the cavity between the two walls. The outside walls have all been rendered and painted.
The roof is timber construction, covered in weatherproof roofing felt and then tiled.
The large separate garage has the same construction and it is unusual to find an outbuilding constructed to the same standards as the main house.
All of the windows are uPVC double glazed.
